Bridg-it Student Essay Contest on Importance of Positive Connections and Kindness
This past week the three winners from Intermediate School 136 in Brooklyn, New York were announced. They participated in Bridg-it’s inaugural Kindness Games Essay Contest on the importance of showing gratitude to those in your school community and its affect on school culture. Principal Eric Sackler (above right) and Chris Lentini (above left), the school’s DASA coordinator made the contest possible. The students each wrote a 250-500 word essay and received a set of Beats Headphones for their efforts. This was the first of many contests designed to engage students to think critically about the cultural importance of students engaging in acts of kindness, praising others and being empathetic to their classmates. Bridg-it Positive School Culture Survey
This Bridg-it school culture assessment was designed by our psychology team to measure the overall student sentiment regarding school safety. The survey is designed to be taken multiple times throughout the school year. Schools should start by establishing a baseline at the beginning of the school year, then again in November, March and finish with a final survey at year-end. One of the unique features of Bridg-it’s digital assessment tool is that a principal can view the survey results based on the entire student body or filter it based on grade and gender. Additionally, you can see who did and did not take the survey. Finally, there are addition school culture surveys for teachers and parents.
